What's a fair price for a Kubota L4740, purchased in 2012 with less than 100 hours? Includes a LA854 loader, R4 tires, and nothing else.

Stored inside, $2,000 less than new invoice, before sales tax. Stored outside, $2,500 less than new invoice, before sales tax. The Lxx40 series are selling for a little premium used because they have Tier 3 engines and exhausts, not more complex Tier 4 engines and exhausts.

Assumes you will get a maintenance log showing 50 hours service was done. If 50 hour service not done before now, reduce offer by $400.

Thanks. That was helpful and to the point. Anybody get one back in 2012 and know what they went for?

When I priced an L4740 in 2013, the list price for one WITH A CAB was $42,405 with the loader. My dealer quoted me $37,400 for a sales price. That was with no options.

I don't know what the price would have been without the cab. Probably around $6,000 less. I was only interested in cab models.

Have you checked tractorhouse.com to see what they're asking for them on there?

Just to follow up, I found one nearby on Craigslist for $22,000. I thought that was a great deal, and you guys confirmed it, but I couldn't get up there to see it for a few days and somebody else snatched it up the next day.

A good way is to just watch the classifieds here, tractorhouse, and various Craig's lists, to get an idea what they sell for. Then, when you see a good tractor at a fair price, you can move. Remember, dealer's prices will be higher than private sales (expect to see the same machines for sale for a long while, if they are pricey), and sales tax may be an issue- here in Maryland, tax would be 1,200 bucks on a $20,000 machine. Some dealers, like Messick's in PA, seem to price their used equipment pretty fairly, so I wouldn't expect much discount from what they are asking. I got a "free" Kubota steering knob, but all told, my price was fair for what I bought. No complaints. My next tractor was a private sale, also what I considered a fair price. Considering what I got, I am very happy with the particular tractor and it's "options".
