Some of you guys may know me from the Tractorpoint board.

Here's the deal that I am being offered: 2003 Long 360 DTC with turfs and a Great Bend 240 FEL and a Rhino 72in RFM for $16,500. 90 hrs on the clock. Tractor has never spent a night outside the garage and has been ultra-maintained (the owner changed out all oils for AMS synthetics when the tractor was delivered and he waxes and polishes it).

I suspect that the price might come down a tad more.

Belongs to a guy who tried the landscaping biz but changed his mind. Currently just sitting idle.

Thanks in advance for the advice.

You should be able to do alittle better on the price since it is used even if it is in exc condition, you already lost a year on the warranty. It is an excellent machine though, 4 cyl mitsibshi engine and dual remotes .Im sure new it is about a grand more

I think the best thing to do is go shop a new one of the same model. In some cases, if the tractor isn't that much more, it may be better to BUY a new tractor and get the full warranty, but that's probably not a big deal with the one you're at which you're looking. If the new one isn't that much more, and you can get 0% financing, it may be a better deal new. That's the trouble with buying an almost new "used" tractor at this time of low or no interest. A used tractor should probably be a good bit lower to make it a real bargain. Go actually negotiate a deal on a new one to see what the very bottom line is, then you'll know if this is a good or great deal. Let us know how you do. John

I don't know anything about the tractor.. However the GB 240 was an option on my TC30 but the mounting looked very akward with a long support running under the engine, losing about 4" ground clearnce.. I choose the 224 GB for that reason.. Might not be an issue for the Long but take a look if ground clearence is an issue.. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Goatman, you are absolutely right. The owner of the tractor walked me through the mount/dismount operations and I was not impressed at all with the ease (or lack of ease) in putting the loader on and taking it off. It also takes up a lot of space on and under the tractor for its capacity (about 1100 lbs - not all that much). When it is dismounted you have those big welded lugs sticking out both in front and in the midsection. A mid mount loader is so much cleaner.

I called Great Bend and thay said that that tractor could have handled their 260 or even 280 loader with a lot more capacity for not much more bucks.

BTW - I checked with the local Long dealer and I would have NO - repeat NO - warranty. The tractor was bought out-of-state and trucked in to save the sales tax and on top of that the dealer said that Long warranties only run to the original purchaser.

I'm not even sure that I will make an offer on this one because the owner seems stuck on getting back what he paid for it.
