John Deere LX255 - T0-30 - John Deere 4200 w/FEL
I'm trying to decide what this might be worth and would appreciate some input from you guys in the know. It's a 2000 4200 with the hydro trans and a 420 loader. It has about 1,060 hrs. on it. I also have a 2006 New Holland TC 30 with a FEL and a manual trans, it has about 540 hrs. Both are 4x4 and work great, but I can only keep one.

I really like them both for different reasons and think they are about the same in value (roughly) so I'm hoping that seeing the values side by side may help me in this difficult decision. Both (or only one now) will be used around my 5 acre property. I have the TC question over in the New Holland Forum too.

Thanks for any input.

I think $12000 is a good starting price.
I expect you'll get between $9K and $10K when you sell it.

Haven't yet decided between the two and was hoping for some feedback here. I'm fond of the HST, a lot. But the NH is 6 years newer and may have had an easier life. How long can the 4200 be expected to run? 4,000 hrs? More? I think the numbers sound about right too RJ.

I've seen a few 4300s with over 5000 hours

the 4200 is a yanmar, very reliable, but so is the n\h, comes down to preference.....both are fairly low hours... I too like the hydro

The New Hollands use a Shibura engine, not Yanmar.
still good engines though...
The 4200 is Deer built, but does use a Yanmar engine.

I leaning towards the older tractor, the Deere. It just feels more,.........substantial, under my a......... uh, seat. Sounds like the hours are not really a factor. The hydro is much more "user friendly" for sure. So far power has not been an issue for me, as I've read about in the 4200. But then there's only 3-4 hp difference between the two tractors. Thanks for all replies.
