I stopped by a dealer today and saw an L2850 for 16K. (this is in Washington state). The body and engine appeared to be in pretty good shape, looked like it had been garaged when not in use. I drove it for a few minutes and the engine seemed ok. I say seemed as I am ignorant when it comes to cars and engines. I didn't hear any weird noises or rattles and it shifted smootly, though this was on pavement and no load.
The hours seemed relatively low, 1390 hours. It comes with an extra set of tires (both ag and turf, but not filled), an LA500 loader and an LA4530 backhoe with an extra bucket. Transmission is glideshift.
I searched the forum but could find very little information on this tractor. So I have 3 questions:
1) Does anyone on this forum have experience with this model?
2) Given the information above is this a reasonable price?
3) Also, given the PTO HP (I believe 27.5 from the Kubota website) what size mower would you recommend?
I have 40 acres in the San Juans, a combination of orchard/meadow and woods. The terrain is mostly level with some slope. I plan to do some tree clearing and parking out, mowing, and putting in trails, fencing etc. We don't have a house built yet, though we hope to start that in the next 12 months. I am looking for an alround tractor, though the projects in the first few years will probably require more horsepower. Though after that we might start with horses after the initial landscaping and construction is done. And from reading this forum it seems the projects never run out anyway. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif
Anyway, any advice/experience from this august body would be greatly appreciated.
