My husband and I went and looked at a DS3510 yesterday at a local dealer. This will be our first tractor purchase and were not sure what we should be paying. The dealer has a package deal that includes a DS3510 with QA FEL (no hst), a 5' shedder, a box blade, and an 18' trailer with dual axel with breaks. He gave us two prices.

First one is 0% interest for 60 months with 10% down for 20995.00

and the second one is

5.5% interest for 84 months with 10% down for 18395.00

Which one is the better offer?

Of those two offers ,the 0% interest would cost you the least overall. Although your payments would be higher. The 5.5% over 84 months would cost $4140.83 in interest over the course of the loan , for a total cost of $22535.80.
You might be able to negotiate a better deal on the tractor if you were to secure your own financing from your bank.

As above, always do the math. That's a high rate though, my financing is 3.5%, same time period. 2 caveats. The DS is a very basic, though capable tractor, you may find you want some of the nicer features. Also, you said this is your first tractor, a mechanical tranny is something very different than you're use to, even from a standard shift car. HST is very nice and has a much lower learning curve. I drove into a couple of walls and destroyed some stuff while learning that the brakes don't stop the tractor on my H. No accidents yet with the CK (yet:laughing:) You will be happy with the DS, and the prices is good, but the CK with FEL is about the same up here, with more features. Just something to consider. On another point, why the trailer? I think you could pick on up cheaper used. If you can't transport the tractor, have the dealer do it (should be no cost), and look around. Those prices seem fair for what you're getting though.

My question as well. You only have this one property, yes? You can rent a trailer IF you ever need it. You need to insure trailers, keep them maintained and registered and find somewhere to store them.

If you can't tell, I do not have any trailers.

Hi there,
Are you both planning to use the tractor or will it just be your husband?
I've got a DS3510 with a 4 in 1 FEL and absolutely love it. Having said that if I had my time again I would have selected hydro, no because I'm unhappy with the geared tractor as I perfer them but because my wife finds it difficult and is reluctant to do much on the tractor. Being you first tractor I would recommend hydro as you will both enjoy using it and will get accustomed to all of the controls quickly. The only thing I would add is it will take a bit of time to get proficient with the FEL but after a few hours you will pick it up and with hydro it makes it so much easier. Like I said I love the DS, I've had over 100 trouble free hours and it's a very strong tractor but I would love my wife to enjoy it as well. Good luck with your purchase. jason

I got a recent quote for a DS3510 with the QA FEL, engine block heater and loaded rear tires, 6' rear angle blade and a two axle 18' trailer for $19,225. Free delivery within 150 miles, and they'll pick it up for free for warranty work. Same price if I financed it thru the dealer or not.

If a trailer is part of the deal, why would they deliver and pick up for warranty for free (?), unless you are fairly close to them.

The trailer was included for $2600, because I had asked for one. I mentioned the delivery and warranty pick up info just so txcowgirl would have the info for comparison as to what dealers may offer.

Paid $14,600 for my DS3510 with loaded tires. That's the bottom line, delivered price in cash. There's no reason for my tractor to leave our property, so a trailer was not purchased. I suggest retaining money for implements that you need.

Love my DS, btw. It's been a great asset while prepping our lot for our new house construction. From dragging and stacking logs, running the chipper, etc., this tractor has done everything I've asked. Our property is entirely wooded, so the tractor needed to be small and nimble. This thing is awesome for its size.
