Can someone give me a good ballpark price for a John Deere 43 HP 4WD tractor with a hydrostatic drive? I'm comparing it to a New Holland TC40DA. We plan on buying a New holland (model mentioned), but might switch to the JD...maybe. I thought the prices were higher on the JD. Please give me some prices I don't need the exact price, unless you know of a web site that has prices. Thanks - let me know if you need more info.

Advantages/disadvantages in going with JD over New Holland?

Go to this site and choose build your own. then select any attachments and accessories. When you get a final price, depending on the dealer you can take 10 to 20% off of that. When I bought my 4310 I found that the other major brands were cheaper until I started adding Ehydro and mid PTO and other things. I was surprised that Deere was actually the cheapest at that point.
Good luck!

If you go to this link , select Utility Tractors and Attachments and Build and Accessorize, you can select the model you want to look at. You'll be looking for a 4410 or one of the new 4x20 series machines.
A screen will open for you to select the options you want. At the top of that screen, you'll see a window listing the MSRP. The MSRP will change as you select options.

I'm a "bare bones" tractor guy, so I'd be looking at a 990 for that horsepower requirement you've listed. But you want a hydro, so that eliminates the 990 (gear only).

As far as advantages of Deere over New Holland...well, not even going there! But I'll say this much...New Holland's are built (not the small ones) within 50 miles of where I live, but the tractors you see being hauled on Landscaper's and Contractor's trailers are Deeres and a few Kubotas. I am seeing more NH used by the state of PA (mowing and such). I've only seen a few used commercially and none being used on farms. The farm tractors are mostly Deere, MF and International.

I do know one guy who owns a TC24. He's had one warranty claim (hydro gave out) in about two years. I know a couple guys with newer Deeres (4300 series) who have had no problems at all.

Good luck in your decision, and choose wisely!

Thanks. The 4120 I priced out came to about $26,000. I'll have to go to the JD dealer and see what they can do with that price. I'm liking the turbo diesel in the 4120 and some of the other features and so on. Just have to see if they can get in our price range. We're trying to get away with a new 40 HP (or slightly more) tractor, a couple wheel weights and finish mower deck(rear) for about $20,000. The New Holland TC40DA was in that range.
