John Deere 4520 cab... formerly Yanmar 336D
I'm seriously thinking of jumping on the cabbed-tractor bandwagon into a DK45s (too bad they aren't planning on the HST to have a cab in the short term)...local dealer is quoting 28k with loader, delivered.

How does that sound pricewise? I'm in New England, as I know that will matter a bit with shipping.

I have NO problem paying a little more as I like this dealer a lot, but don't want to pay more than I "should" either.

Any other thoughts on the DK45s with cab (esp. vs. a JD 3720 or 4320) would be appreciated too. I really like the looks of the Deeres, but the price is 8k higher around here it appears, and the local dealer has a bad rep.

Thank you for your info / opinion in advance!

I purchased my dk55c about a year ago. I have been very happy with it. I think the cab is very comfortable, and I have found it to be designed with a lot of thought concerning ergonomics. I get in and out often and it is not the chore I anticipated it would be. I bought the quick-tach forks, and a grapple. I use the forks above all else

I purchased my DK45S cab about 6 months ago and I really have enjoyed the cab and the FEL with the quick attach. That price don't sound too far off the mark. What loader is he offering? The KL1450? If so then it is a good deal. Welcome to the club.

Me too, only a DK65!

It's hard for me to compare the 45 cab with others since I haven't ridden in or used the others. I did sit in a JD cab (very plush) a MF cab (somewhat spartan but functional), a Kubota cab, and have ridden in a McCromick 112 hp cab tractor. Couple things I have noticed:
When you have the loader high on the 45 visibility is not great but good enough. I noticed the NH cabs have glass up over the top in their cab models, that's good for visibility but might be tough when the sun is shining bright.
The Kioti cab is well built, solid might be the best term. You get front and rear work lights, two big side view mirrors and a rear view mirror. The cab is tight with few outside odors getting in. Noise level is acceptable.
With the 45 you get one set of rear remotes. You also get a lever in the back to raise and lower the 3PH so you are not always crawling in and out of the cab to attach implements.
I've had heat problems in my cab this winter. We replaced the thermostat but that didn't help. The dealer has been working with me on this but so far the only fix is to put a piece of cardboard in front of the radiator. That has helped but is not a permanent fix. Diesels in general are cold running but there seems to be a design flaw somewhere that prevents good heat in the cab.
You get one wiper blade on the front, none on the rear for the 45.
There is a radio and casette player, should be a CD player but to me that's no big deal.
There is a sun roof and with that open and the rear window open you get nice air flow in the cab in the spring and early summer.
All in all, I think a good, solid cab tractor. I only have 130 hours on mine so as far as I'm concerned it hasn't passed the test of time.

I have had a DK50c for 3yrs and i just love it. The heater works better than my truck and the A/C will freeze me out. The radio and speakers are so-so although I may change them out. I also have looked at many other brands the kioti cab IS alot more solid they have frames on the doors most others do not they have the hinges in the glass and the doors seem to flex alot. The new DK45s is updated from my 50 I really think there sharp good choice! One more thing the 45HST is a smaller tractor (looks like a 35 with a 45 motor) compare tire sizes and specs. The kioti cab models also weigh more than other brands thats a plus in the traction dept.
To bad I can't afford one of each brand. Good luck on what you decide.

Yes, Frenchie is right on about the AC, it does a great job in the summer. There were a couple things I forgot to mention, little things maybe but makes the 45 a nicer tractor. It has a PTO shield that flips up, it has telescopic hitch ends and stabilizer, the bucket is self-leveling (at first I didn't like this feature but now I do), and the 4wd button and the PTO button are electric on/off.
If weight is important to you the Kioti cab weighs about 4,600 lbs, without about 4,300 lbs., compared to the JD 4,000 series that weigh in at 3,700 lbs.
The total pump capacity of the 45 is a bit over 14 gpm. compared to 17 for the 4,000 series JD.

Hello Couch, Not sure what dealer youve been to upstate , but at Schroon Lake youll find Rodicks Farm Machinery.. They are a very good dealership and youd be happy to do business with them.. Bud is a straight shooter who doesnt bash the competition, he can stand on his own merit.. I purchased from them 2 years ago myself.. The Dk45 is a very nice machine, As you stated , hopefully they come up with a cab version in hst... Definitely take them for a test drive.. The last i saw the dk45 was selling for around 23000 without the cab... Good luck... Matt

You nailed it - Bud has been very good to me, and that's the main reason I'm seriously looking in to the Kioti's and hope to get up there soon for a few test drives:)
