price of mig bottle?

Any good prices on small or med. bottles for a home or ranch use? I'de like to own my own rather than rent being I only use it from time to time.

ebay has from 20cf tanks for $63 up to 60cf for $115 including shipping. i've never bought tanks that way, but all the sellers claim that they give you paperwork for certifying them, so i'd assume there's no issue with them. i also suspect that places like tractor supply are fairly easy to do exchanges with if you have the paperwork. you can also find used tanks for sale on places like craigslist, but you may want to check with wherever you plan on getting your gas to find out their policy on used tanks. form the millions of other threads on here about used tanks, it seems that everyone in different locations gets different requirements from their local dealers.

Call your local gas suppliers. I think every one of them around here have bottles you can own that they sell. Ask them about if you already have a bottle, some may not fill it or will swap it out with one of their customer owned bottles. They may even want to charge you for testing the bottle.

I own mine. After calling several places I found out one some suppliers would only sell/ fill very small bottles while others had larger sizes. No point buying a bottle that nobody around you will fill.

i bought a 40cf argon/co2 cylinder about 3 months ago from a local supplier. it was $160. $173.40 with tax.

perhaps it was a bit more expensive than elsewhere, but the the supplier is a local guy, he's close, always helpful, knowledgeable, friendly, and just a great guy. to that end, i'm happy to pay a premium.

Our local Airgas store sells bottles. I bought mine last fall during a sale they had and got a free fill along with the purchase. I assume there won't be any filling issues since I bought the bottle from them.
