Price on USED 54\" Mid mount mower?

I stopped by my local dealer yesterday to price out a 54" and 60" MMM to slide under my 4100. Just so happens that they have a gear drive 4100 with a 54" MMM sitting on the lot on consignment. Turns out the guy bought it at another dealer, put 25 hours on it and didn't like the fact that it didn't have a live PTO. He wanted to keep the mower running while he pushed the clutch in. Anyway, the dealer thinks that this thing will sell better, faster, higher without the mower on it and is going to call the consignee and see if he will split it up.

Question is, if the guy is willing to seperate, what is a fair price? The dealer is quoting me $1600.00 +tax for a new one. I haven't looked under it yet, but would before seriously considering. I am told that it only has 10 hours or so on the deck.

Interesting, I went just the opposite. Bought a 54" deck new from dealer at same price quoted to you $1600. I used it once and did not like it. Deck managed to bend a hydraulic line when dealer installed it the first time and taking it on and off is a hassel I did not want to deal with. That mistake cost me $200 which I thought was rather good of the dealer to let me off so easy.
Bought a finishing mower and like it so much more.
So answering your question, i would think used MMM deck should be discounted at least $200; more if blades show any signs of hitting rocks and or stumps. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Even in good condition, I would not pay more than $800 bucks. That is what I paid for mine ($725), /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif plus a new drive shaft, so about $900 bucks /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif
