hello

i could use some help on a price check for a 2000 JD 4600 4WD, epower-reverser, 460 FEL, frame-attached front blade, with 295 hrs. $18,500. i am located in MT.

it is not with a local JD dealer, but the local Kubota dealer. seems like a good price, esp with the front blade. i do not think there is any warranty left.

any feedback:
on price?
reliability?
resale?

i have been talking to the JD dealer about a new 4310 4WD epower-reverser, 430 FEL, and front blade, he is working up a price for the package. i know he is around 20k for tractor and FEL. i figure the new blade would be at least 2k.

any opinion on which is better deal?

thanks for the help,
bill

The 4600 is obviously a bigger machine than the 4310. I would guess that moving snow is a high priority for you. How much road/driveway do you have? If you get snow measured in feet rather than inches, you might consider a front mounted snow blower. The 4600 will move/push a bigger pile whereas the 4310 with a blower will work very well also. (This info is gleaned from years of reading this board) So, if somebody from up yonder wants to chime in, please, by all means, do so. I have a 4310 and there are times I wish it was more powerful. Like when I have 26 acres of pasture to mow and the grass is thick and I like to mow at 6-8 mph. My old neighbor's father had a 4600 I think very much like the one your looking at and he loved it. He had a nice complement of 3pt attachments he hauled around on an 18 or 20 foot trailer. If heavy work is what you need to do get the 4600, if your place is not so big(less than 20 acres of maintained area) get the 4310. I guess you need to weigh in how much time you have to tractor. And I must say, it is NOT always fun. Sometimes, it is W-O-R-K.

I think he's high by a couple thousand. That's a five year old machine now. You should be down around $16,000. The front blade used isn't going to bring much more than $800.

Go www.johndeere.com and price out the 4310 if you still can. He should be at least 25% off of list price plus I believe there are a few rebates on it too. If you're an AQHA member you can get another $500 off. That is yesterdays model. It's like buying the old body style on a vehicle. The new series out is the 20 series.

OK, that price is high. that is a good thing. Can you believe that a two models ago tractor is bringing that much? And the dealer will sell it. SO-o if you buy new and use it and later want to sell it, you can also expect that kind of resale. I don't see the sense in buying used, when the new ones will come with low or no interest financing, I can use and enjoy it with a warranty, and get that kind of resale...

Maybe I should sell mine... /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

thanks all, i will probably look to buy new. hopefully i will be able to get the 4310 for a little less. problem is up here in montana prices are a bit high. if he wont budge any ideas of other concessions to ask for?

what would be a fair price for the 4310, e power-reverser, 430 loader, hd bucket, filled r4 tires??

thanks for your help

With the bigger R4's, and I couldn't find a 430 FEL, so I put in a 300X FEL which was 3100. It came out to MSRP $22,201
You should be able to get one way down here in Texas for about $17,760 or so. How much is your dealer asking for this equipped model? Make sure he puts implements on seperate lines in his quote to see what cost what.

thanks all for your posts...

my dealer has come back with a $19,000 quote for:
4310 4wd
epowrreverser
r4
dual mid scv
block heater
tubes and chloride
300x FEL
61" HD bucket
bucket level indicator

the price seems pretty good, considering my location.

i have 2 questions:
330x loader vs. 430 loader?? is the 300x more in line with the 420? price would suggest that it is. i do like the curved arms though...

should i go for the epowrreverser or the hydro?? i was thinking to save a little cash and go for the reverser, but it seems that the hydros fly off the lot alot quicker. also hydro easy for the wife.

any opinions??

My wife is from Bozeman. All of her family is there and we own some land by Manhattan. I asked about AQHA because they have a special deal with Deere to get some good prices but you have to have been a member for a year.

Anyway I would go with the power reverser but the hydro will be easier to operate. I also like the 430 loader.

I haven't seen either loader yet. But from Deere's specs, it sure seems as you say. It is only $500 more for the upgrade loader, and it is a hoss. I would NOT pass that up! See the 300 series loader thread...

AS to eReverser vs. HST, I bet either would be fine. But the most important thing is to test drive them, after she does, that is! My wife really likes using ours...
