Pricing help - BX2230

Here's the copy from the ad...

For sale:Kubota BX-2230 tractor. This is a 4X4 diesel tractor with a 60"mowing deck (3 blade) and a front loader. This tractor has 504 hours with power steering, hydrostatic transmission and 3 point hookup. Stored in barn and serviced regularly. Excellent condition. 2011 6'X12' trailer also included. $8700 FIRM for all.

Thoughts?

This will be my first tractor to be used on our 2 1/2 acre property. Throwing in the trailer is a nice deal and looking on CL it would go for about $1000 used. Any known issues or short comings with the BX2230? Also, the pictures on the ad shows the joystick box is metal painted orange. All the pictures of this model I've seen online show it as black. Anyone know what's the difference?

Sounds pretty reasonable to me depending on actually looking at it condition. You can go to tractorhouse.com and look at prices of numerous similar tractors with different configurations. The trailer is a sweetener for sure as it gives you mobility for the tractor and a way to haul all of those other implements home that you will buy. ;-)

I sold same tractor as that a couple of months ago. Mine had 600 hours, 60" mmm, front loader, 48" box blade and a near new front mount snow blower. Assuming the blower value at around $2500, that would bring your total to $11,200.

My package also included some extras (wheel weights, 3 point hitch bar, etc) and I sold the package for $12,000. I think the deal you're looking at is right inline, as long as it's all in good shape.

Sounds like a decent price to me if it is as nice as described. As for the differences in the joystick the older BX tractors had the joystick (loader valve) mounted to the loader frame and it came off with the loader. These were painted orange. The newer style had the loader valve built into the tractor so it stayed on the tractors when the loader was removed. This style is black plastic. I suspect that's what you are seeing. The only time this will matter a bit is if you plan on attaching another front mounted hydraulic device to it such as a snow blower. It is more complicated with the older style because the controls have to be removed from the loader to operate the blower. I have the feeling that this won't bean issue for you though.
