Howdy all - this forum was a great help to me before when I bought my BX1850 several years ago so I figured I would bounce a couple questions off of you about my next tractor purchase.

I am considering pulling the trigger today on a new 08' Grand L 4740 HST equipped with the large loader and a land pride RCR1872 brush hog. The price on the table is $28,000 and my dealer claims he is cutting me a deal on it due to it being left over.

Is this a fair price? Also I would get 0% interest for 60 mos. I just paid off my BX and I am VERY happy with it, it has gone above and beyond on numerous occasions but I need something for my property in the country.

I really only need a 3540 but I can get the 4740 for just about 3K more and it seems to be alot more tractor. In the future I would put a 90" finish cut on this rig as well as do some major food plotting at my Deer hunting spots.

thank you in advance,

TB

That sounds to be in line with what I found recently.

I also though I only needed a 35 HP machine, but got a 50 and I am glad I did.

As for the rotary cutter, it will be fine for grass and weeds, but I picked up the RCR2672 for grass and brush.

Good luck and don't forget the pictures.

Triple R - I see you are in Missouri, I am too. I am over towards STL in Washington / property in Labadie and am dealing with Schweissguth and my sales guy is top notch and very trustworthy. This is the second tractor I have bought from him and he has always treated me well.

I am quite a bit south of you and deal with Davis Farm Supply in Perryville and Fruitland. I have been very happy in my dealings with them. They are a small dealership, but sell a lot of tractors, this is my second tractor and lots of equipment. Dealerships are very important to me as there is a dealer in my area that I won't do business with at all.

Well as of this afternoon it is a done deal. I signed all the paperwork and I will be picking it up Saturday morning. I took it for a little spin this afternoon and she rides well and I can't wait.

I am going to have a couple of dump truck loads of rock delivered to my place Saturday to help improve my path I use to drive across my creek & culvert pipe. It also looks like it is ready to be brush hogged out there so I get several hours of seat time this weekend.

I'll take some pics before I get her dirty.

thanks again for the feedback.

here is how she is equipped;

L4740HST 4WD
Folding Rops
R-4 tires
LA854 quick attach loader
L2226 quick coupler
L2236 quick attach bucket
Landpride RCR1872 rotary cutter

What do you all think?

Paid $28,000 even.

Sounds good to me, I know you are going to love it. I have the older Grand L30 Series and have been very happy with it and the L40 have some more features than mine. You will be very pleasantly surprised by the power and maneuverability.

Did you get loaded tires or rear remotes?

I will most likely get the tires filled. What are rear remotes?

Rear remotes are hydraulic outlets to operate hydraulic cylinders.
1 set (2 ports or openings) of remotes will allow you to operate 1 cylinder.

2 sets of remotes will allow you to operate 1 cylinder.

Ahhh, figured it was hydraulic related. Thanks for the info. I actually have my tires filled on my BX1850 and it helps alot. Would you suggest that I have them go ahead and fill my tires on the new rig?
