Well, the TC29D has been good to me, but it just doesn't have enough "butt" for what I need to do. We've got a tract of land that's about 15 acres that we've had selectively thinned and the 29 just doesn't have the grunt to get it cleared/cleaned up. So, I'm thinking of moving up to (hopefully) a TC35D or TC40D that one of my dealers has left on the lot. He's out until later today so I'll wait 'til he gets back.

2 things:

1) What should I expect for trade in on a "new" TC29D with Bush Hog 2246QT FEL. She only has about 50 hours on her and she's a 2003 model!!

2) What should I be seeing as a "GREAT" deal for a 30D or 40D still sitting on the lot with a 16 or 17 FEL?

Thanks,

I have a TC 40A and I am in a similar situation with clearing off newly timbered land. This is why I traded my TC 30. There is a lot of difference between the TC 40A and the TC 30. I have used my tractor to push brush and to clear out trails, but here is my opinion.

The TC 40A is not designed to clear land that has a lot of brush and stumps. I love the TC 40A but knowing what I know now, I would have bought on of the new TT series Utility tractors with FWD. There have been times when I needed more weight and power. I also worry about the pretty hood on the boomer when I'm pushing brush. Those nice light assemblies are expensive to replace. The TT series doesn't have the nice hood.

Now if you use your tractor to also maintain the front lawn and you don't want to hire out to have the land cleared then the TC 40 would be a good compromise. That is storage issues and for use in tight areas are in favor of the Class III Boomers (35,40,45). The new TT series would not fit in my garage.

I paid $21,000 for my TC 40A with a 16LA fel, loaded R4 tires, and a few minor trinkets. The DA model will cost you another $1,500. As far as your TC 29, I don't think you will have a hard time selling it. Depending on demand in SC, I think you could ask between 13K-15K. You will get several thousand less for it as a trade.

Thanks,

Todd gave you good info on prices of new tractors. I am going to second his opinion that you need to try an outright sale on the the TC29D. That sounds like basically a new tractor with only the warranty missing. I'd sure try to sell it rather than trade it in. You paid retail for it in 2003. If you trade it, the dealer will offer you wholesale, but he will hold out for retail on the new tractor. The way I see it, that gives the dealer three profit opportunities. I think I'd try to put one of those in my pocket. Just my opinion...

Well, my dealer offered me $14,000 for the 29D and loader & got the ZERO for 60 months - now he's got to find me a TC35DA!!! They've got a last year made TC33DA Super Steer (roughly 2 hours), R4 tires, rear weights and 15LA loader that he's willing to let me have for 21,900 + 5% off that price. If anything, the 29D is 9x3 so just moving up to the HST will help me greatly around the house moving dirt and mulch for landscaping. The wife REALLY keeps "us" busy. But, I'm going to wait and see what he can do on a 35DA.

Keep ya updated.

I'm glad to hear that your dealer is going to offer you 14K for your TC 29. In my opinion, I would not buy the TC 33 for your intended task because you are not gaining much over your current TC 29. I would also suggest a TC 40DA since you are going with the hydro. In my area the TC 40DA with a NH FEL is going for $23,500-$24,000.

I recently purchased a slightly used '06 TC35DA, upgrading from an 06 Montana 3040. Let me tell you, what a difference! The 35DA is only an extra ~5 hp (gained a bit of PTO hp) but the difference is night and day so to speak. I have 30 acres here in north texas and although it has been pretty much cleared as horse pasture, we have put the TC35 through its paces mowing every inch.

Recently I have been digin up an old asphalt (spelling?) driveway that is about 8 feet by 30 feet. The New Holland with the 16 LA loader is rippin it up without a hitch or a toothbar for that matter, my not so old 30Hp Montanna would't even make a dent in this stuff. That is not to say the Montanna was not a worthwhile machine, it did everything else we needed it too, but I imagine it wouldn't be any better or worse than your TC29.

needless to say I am 100% happy with my new NHTC35DA, picked it up in slighty used, with ~120 hrs, a 6 foot Box Blade and 6 foot brush mower which is pratically new as well, all for $17,500.00 deleivered. How could I resist?

Now i don't really have any advice as to how to help you spend your money, but I did make the mistake of going too small at first. I hope sharing a snippet of my experience helps you in some way avoid the mistake I made.
