Hi all I just fitted a Prince LSR 3060 3 to my home made splitter I have seen some threads discussing them so I thought I would post the results
The previous valve was a 95 lm auto kick-out with 3/4" ports running 1/2" hoses all round.
New valve set-up on same pipes (they do recommend 3/4" for the cylinder pipes )
Cylinder is approx 5" dia with 2.5" rod stroke is 33.5" it came off a caterpillar machine
Running at 1/4 throttle on my Leyland 272 at 2000 psi
STD valve extend time was 47.5 seconds
NEW extend time ......13 seconds.
AT full throttle 9 seconds .

Q.for the hydro experts how much faster would it go with 3/4" pipes ????????????

Thanks JJ thats why I posted them
Any idea on the 1/2" to 3/4" pipe swap

Do the bucket trick to measure the hyd flow.

Use a 5 GAL bucket and cause the fluid to flow into the bucket for 6 sec times 10 or for 10 sec times 6.

That should compute the GPM for the engine speed you are using.

For the pressure use the the avg on the right of the chart.

Long Shot,
With the information you already gathered you can figure your flow rate using the formula flow = velocity x area

in this case flow = 33.5 inch stroke / 9 seconds = 3.72 inches/second x 5" bore area of 19.6 square inches = 3.72 x 19.6 =72.9 cubic inches/second / 3.85 =18.94 GPM flow going into the base end of the cylinder.

figure tractor flow by using rod area times velocity or 2.5 rod = 4.9 x 3.72 = 18.26 cubic inches per second / 3.85 = 4.74 GPM

NOTE: 3.85 constant is derived from 231/60 231 cubic inches per gallon 60 seconds in a minute

1/2" hose at 19 GPM is over 30 feet per second

3/4" hose at 19 GPM is 20 feet per second
