Ford 2810
Hi, I am new to this site. I have a Ford 2810 and also another tractor. The mower that I have on the back of the 2810 is automatically lifting when I start up the tractor. It stays lifted all the way for a minute or two and then it lowers itself.

I recently put some fluid in what I think is the transmission box. Is the transmission fluid and the hydraulic fluid the same. For lack of a better explanation of my situation, I inherited the tractors and need to learn how to take care of them.

Yes, the transmission fluid and hydraulic fluid are a common sump. I wonder what you put in there? Was it an approved fluid for your make and model? Was the fluid level low in the sump? I assume the 3 point lift lever was in the up position, and if so then the 3point will raise upon startup when the hydraulic pump provides fluid flow.

If it sinks while the tractor is running you have a serious leak in the control valve or 3 point lift cylinder. The leak for either will be internal so not a leak onto the ground. If you mean it lowers itself in a minute or two after you shut off the engine, then it is still pretty serious.

Lessons learned: Don't add fluid as a diagnostic test, Only add fluid (making sure you are adding the proper fluid) if and when the dipstick or sight glass indicates fluid needs to be added. This is done when the tractor is sitting level and all implements are in the down position.
Lesson 2:, you likely have a problem with either the control valve or cylinder seal.

You didn't mention drop and then an abrupt rise followed by a drop and rise again, while the tractor is running and fluid flow is being provided by the pump. Your tractor may not have position control as a feature on the 3 point. Tractordata does not say.

Just a W.A.G. here, but:
Do you have a draft control lever, and did it somehow get moved to it's most sensitive position?

I am not sure it has Draft Coby, I am not even sure it has position control. Maybe. Some pictures would be nice. :)

It does have a Draft control. I am not sure how it works. I have pictures but am having trouble posting them. What do you all use to post pictures.

The Draft control lever is all the way down. I guess I need to move it midway. I think I have the right hydraulic oil in it. It is John Deere low viscosity hi gard transmission and hydraulic oil TY22000.

It doesn't jerk. It just slowly rises and stays up for a minute then fails. After that I go about my business and cut grass and don't notice anything.

Is there more then one spot on the tractor that you can hook the top link, if so try the other hole.
