Bought a used JD 2 bottom plow. Tried to adjust over and over with no luck. At times it works for a short distance, but when the second plow turns the dirt, it just flops back into the trench. Tired everything.
Cat 2 , was a 3 bottom, 3rd taken off, 12". Tire fits in furrow. It rolls the sod which is held together, and then just falls back in furrow. New to plowing
If it is a 2-14 you need to set the depth of the front plow at 7". If it is a 2-16 set the depth at 8". Place a board on the ground and run your right tire up on the board at the height needed based on the plow size. The bottom of the plow should be level with the ground while the front tire is up on the block. This is a starting point. Once you get the front plow set then adjust your back plow with your top link. You will need to run at a speed to turn the sod over. If you have draft control on your tractor adjust it to keep the plow in the ground. If possible you may be able to add a depth gauge wheel on the back of the plow to help with depth control. A picture would help. Keep us posted as to your progress.
