Problem posting craigslist ad

I'm trying to sell a generator on craigslist. Composing the ad, you have to identify the category of the item you are selling, "cars and trucks", "farm equipment", etc. There are lots of generators for sale on craigslist, listed under the category of "all". But where you compose your ad, they have a long list, but "all" isn't on the list.

So I submitted my generator under the category of "general" and then searched for my generator and it doesn't come up, unless I search the "general" category. But all the other generators are listed under "all" and "all" isn't on the list of categories. "All" gets the most hits.

So, how do I get to "all"?

I think "all" isn't a category. It is part of the search feature that will search "all" categories. If I click on the "for sale" heading in the list of categories, the results say "all" in the category box.

I've heard that sometimes it takes a while to show up with an "all" search.

It takes longer than you expect for the ad to show up. If you click the link they sent you, you can see it, but if you go to the proper For Sale subforum, you won't see it right away. Relax for a couple hours and see if it pops up...

Yup, second row, second from left, $350.
Didn't show for me except the next day and then only under the category of "general".
But, hey, it does work now! First post was Friday, I deleted the original post so I could post again as I tried to get it to take is as "all". This time it showed in about 6 hours. Strange.

I think you would get good results using the "farm and garden" category.

Don't forget to log into your account 2 days afterwards and "renew" it. It will place it back to the top. You can do that every 2 days for about a month before you have to delete it and relist it.
