I have a 4520 cab tractor with a hydrostatic trans. the issue I'm having is when the machine is in "C" range it is moving very slow (about 4mph) in forward and almost comes to a stop on the slightest incline. The engine doesn't bog down or anything and it moves at full speed in reverse (about 16mph) with no issues. "A" and "B" ranges seem fine in forward and reverse and the loader and 3 point hitch work just as they always have. Because everything works normally except "C" range forward, it leads me to believe its a transmission problem.

I was wondering if anyone has had this issue. any advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks, Rob

Is that an E-hydro tractor?

Then, do you have any codes flashing?

May need a trip, or a visit, with the Deere guy and the computer to reset something, or to figure out which sensor is failing or over-reacting. Seems it could be a number of things...

Do you have the service technical manual to do some trouble shooting?

Do you have the automotive cruise control. If so make sure to turn off the SpeedMatch. It may be limiting the max speed on you.

Try it with Loadmatch OFF. If that helps then there could be an issue with the throttle position sensor, or engine speed sensor.

It does have cruise control. I tried turning the load match off, it didn't seem to make any difference.

You can put it into a test mode and see the raw sensor values on the display to make sure the forward pedal is putting out the proper range

Yes I do, but It's a little lengthy to try and type out. It is outlined in the service manual. I'll PM you

Where are you located? Is it really cold? Are you letting your oil get up to warm temp? Even my 4310 has trouble going full speed with C range until the oil gets up to operating temp. When this happens, A and B work fine.

I am located in PA the temps are very cold here at the moment but this problem has been going on since August when the temps were in the 80's/90's. The machine is always warmed up before being put to work. Used it earlier this week for snow plowing and my operator told me there was no difference from when he started to when he was done about 9hrs later.
