A friend has a MF231 with a 232 loader. A few months back, the splines on the front hydraulic pump (that attaches to the front of the engine through a short driveshaft) stripped out. When I replaced the pump, I noticed the internal splines in the pump driveshaft were scarred up, but was able to dress them with a small file and managed to get the pump's splines inserted into them with some effort and the pump properly mounted and working. No more than two months later, the splines are stripped out again! I can see the pump driveshaft spinning since it's connected to the engine, but the pump shaft itself is not turning so the loader is not working. Here's my questions:

What would cause this to happen again?
Should the pump driveshaft be replaced even though the splines were usable? Can it be replaced without tearing the tractor apart?
Can a splined connection tolerate any kind of misalignment? If not, I'm wondering if maybe the pump bracket itself might be bent?
