Tractor
NH 1925D
I have a problem with my 1925D (the predecessor of the TC33). The tractor loses power going up a fairly steep paved hill when in 2nd range (hydrostatic drive). I've had the tractor into the dealer and they state that they cannot find any problems and when they brought the tractor home, it went up the hill just fine (I was not home at the time). Last winter I bladed snow up this hill in 2nd range and now the tractor won't even pull itself. The dealer had the tractor hooked up to a PTO dyno and the power was fine. Could this be a problem with the drive?

Thanks,

Does the engine RPM drop or just a loss of forward motion ???

If the RPM drops, I might be looking towards a fuel delivery problem....

If the engine stays strong, and the unit just wont go, I'd look at hydro fluid integrity ( water ) and the fluid level.

Are you running at high RPM's ( full hydro pump flow ) ???

How is the flat land power ?? Is it still strong ???

I know .... a lot of questions, but info is good.

The engine RPMs drop significantly. I usually run it in the green range (PTO at 540 RPMs). Up the steepest part of the hill I have to let off on the speed or the engine would probably die. On flat ground, the tractor will get up to full speed but the engine lugs down and it takes a few seconds for the tractor to build up to full speed. The dealer said it showed 24 to 25 horsepower on the PTO dyno, which is standard for this size tractor and that it was strong and it good shape for a tractor with 1,200 hours. However, this tractor is definately not nearly as strong as it was just 1 year ago and I always thought that 1,200 hours was low for this type of tractor.

1200 hours on a well maintained engine is nothing..

Specs on that tractor should be 32 engine.. and 29 pto.. if he could only muster 24/25 on a dyno.. there is a bit of a problem... and he should know it. A tractor that can't pull itself up a hill without stalling DEFFINATELY has a problem...

I just got my tractor (1925 NH) back this week from the dealer for a similiar loss of power problem. The solution was very simple in my case---------the air filters were clogged BADLY. Two new air filters and I am back in business with
noticeable improvement.
