I'm looking at these red guys ... and I gotta tell ya, the product line needs a little clarity. Have I got this right?

1. 2810HST this is a Big HEAVY 28hp machine - over 3000 pounds

2. 3015HST looks to be the same size but is over 400 pounds lighter and a few more HP. Can't be the same frame as the 2810HST, can it? (2601 lbs)

3. 2615HST - others have said this is a carbon copy of the 3015HST but different power plant. Spec says 2458 lbs.

After having a Kubota L2900 for a while, I didn't like the weight of the 90's vintage L series - and Kubota generally makes light[er] machines. I don't know the exact weight of the L2900 with loader and rake but I think I need something a little lighter.

Eyein' the 3015 HST but now thinking it might be heavier than I'd like. Certainly ditto for the 2810 HST. The 2810 seems to be comparable to an L series in terms of mass, no?

I need to drive one of these yet again methinks.

DAP,

The "10" series are made in Korea by TYM. The "15" series are made in Japan by Mitsubishi. Hence the Koreans are of heavier construction vs the Japanese.

Ah ... I remember in the 80's, NYC transportation suits made a big deal about new subway cars. They saved this, they saved that much, blah blah blah ... contractor was Japanese (not Bombardier at the time) ....

The cars were great but us fat americans didn't fit in the japanese designed seats! For real. 2 million people a day scooching into those too small fiberglass molded seats!

Uh ... ooops. The fare then was 1 ride for 75 cents. Now it's 2.00.

Doug,

Your local dealer should have a brochure that lists multiple models in the size range.

I have a copy and it was helpful for a side by side.

But yes, the last two digits of "10", "15", and I guess now "20" are different series, and "HST" is it's own animal.

I posted a message a while ago about 3510 and 3510HST not being the same machine or even the same product line. It is very confusing.

Mahindra has a 2710 backhoe for the 2015. Very nice unit, digs 7'10". Contact your local dealer for prices.

Is there a reason that your not looking at the current L-Series? It sounds like its exacty what your looking for.

Neil ... I'm leaning towards the fact that a low model L series Kubota will be too big for my property. The L2900 I was using was a rental with an option to buy.

I have a lot of loader work and a lot of lawn. I won't be mowing with the machine, but the ag tires and weight sure tore up one of my pastures. R4's and a less weight look like the recipe for me.

The current standard L's weight in at 2200lbs. The large B's run 1800lbs. I was just curious because weight wise Kubota usually has the lightest weight in the business.

You might want to work out some numbers using the current models. Your post caught my eye because it did not seem like things where adding up. I think the newer L2800 will fit the bill mower closely than anything else you are considering. Or maybe a NH TC30 Gear? Thats under 2000lbs.
