propane contract

We heat our nearly 100 year old house solely with propane wall heaters, but since we are so stingy, we don't use enough to qualify to lock in a rate. We just filled up three weeks ago for $1.59 per gallon.

I locked in this year $1.37 for our poultry farm. This is .30 cents higher than last year. We would normally use about 14,000 gallons but I installed new heaters that burn waste oil that I can get for about .60 cent per gallon and it has almost twice as many btu's as propane per gallon. $1.37 vs $.30 tough choice. I hope it works. I also more than doubled my insulation in the barns.

My tank was topped off last week at $1.49/gallon. I only use a couple hundred gallons a year for heat and hot water so i couldn't get the better price. (I heat mostly with the fireplace these days)
