All the gaskets,o-rings and hydraulic 3-pt lift I got from the NH dealer. They were readily available and inexpensive. Hydraulic pump overhaul wee bit pricey and could not find good part source for them on line. Radiator hoses and belts were quite expensive at the dealer or on line so when I replaced radiator fluid I took the hoses off and went to my local auto part, went to the back of the store and eyeballed and matched hoses and belt very inexpensively. I had to trim the hose a bit for perfect fit. I bought the belt and hoses from "Advanced AutoParts" in Kansas City. Upper radiator hose was B7613, Lower D71718 CS and accessory belt (water Pump/Alternator) was L444. I suppose most of the check balls, rubber o-rings and such can be matched individually if NH decides to stop their part support. I like the design of this little tractor. It is designed with ease of maintenance in mind.:)

JC, when u mention gaskets, did you mean engine gaskets?I'm needing a head gasket .Mine seeps just a little.Figured I'd get it now if reasonable and tear her down over the winter.I too, liked this little tractor when I bought her at an auction in 98.Don't know why I quit using it.Anyway, with the price of fuel, got her back out to save some money on my mowing.Could u post some pics of the back of your tractor so I can make sure my 3pt stuff is all in order?(Stay chains/braces and such)Thanks.[/B][/COLOR]

tulenutn2o,

I don't live on my property so I don't have Immediate access to my tractor but I took pictures of all major components for comparison sake and also studying it's design. I hope pics below help you. when I said gasket I did not mean internal engine gasket or head gasket. There are paper gasket at the hyd inlet screen and also oil pump. I bought the gaskets prior to repair of the component but originals were in perfect shape. I used the new ones and but kept the old one. You can even make some of the gaskets with card board impregnated with oil. that'll last you a while. My valve cover does not leak. If I were you I would use high temp RTV Blue. would clean up the joint good and wipe off all the oil clean, apply a bead of RTV and make sure it skins before I put the cover on and tighten it but would not over-tighten it. That ought to help you on the oil leak. let me know if you need something else. everything in my tractor is in original shape.:)

Thanks for the pics. That's what I needed.Just waiting for my overrunning pto adapter to show up and I'm off to mow the "back 40".OK, so maybe I added a zero on there.I forgot how handy this little tractor was compared to the ole Oliver.

Hm, Just a bit curious. Most 1700's have transmission driven PTO and they do have internal overrunning clutch, so I fail to see why you want to add the second one. If you have live PTO (dual clutch) system then Overrunning clutch is not needed and it is not included in the design. Refer to your service manual and it shows that clearly. What I would do is to make sure my slip clutch is not tight or frozen in place if you use an implement that has it like tiller. If you use a brush hog to mow the back 4:D then use grade 2 shear bolt. That'll be the weakest point of the system and will shear off before any damage to internal guts of your PTO system. You can pick up a lb of grade 2 -3-1/2" bolts for about $2/lb from TSC.
