Proper PTO RPM?? Will too low hurt the tractor?

/ Proper PTO RPM?? Will too low hurt the tractor? #41
I let my brushhog tell me if i need more RPM input.

if im skimming 3" of grass off the top i see no reason to need full HP to do so. but in tall or thicker grass i need more HP=more rpm.

my range is 1800-2400 (full 540rpm) depending on conditions.
