Does anyone have any pros/cons/advise on changing how AG tires are mounted on the rims? I understand that the tires/wheels can be mounted in four different ways changing the overall width of the tractor. I'm under the impression that the wider the better for better stability, given that the tires do not extend past the width of the bucket. Any suggestions??

I like mine mounted vertical.

Much of my property is in the hills, so I have everything as wide as possible.

most of my property is hilly as well so thats why I was figuring on the wider the better. thanks.

Have you put fluid in your tires? That helps with stability also; good luck and be careful.

3R has it right. If you have hills fill the tires with liquid ballast and set the tires at their widest setting. You will not believe the difference in stability if you have been running the tractor set up any other way.

Mine is set at the widest as well. It's not so much the way the tires are mounted, but the way the wheels are assembled. I assume you have two piece rims?

Mine has an inner "dish" that bolts to the axle hub, then an outer rim (with tire) that bolts to the inner dish. The difference is which side of the rim lugs the dish is bolted to.

If your tires are filled, be careful changing them around. Mine aren't big (11.9 x 24), but they are still a handful if one gets away on you or tips over. Keep 'em vertical as much as possible.

If you ever intend to use a moldboard plow, The initial setting for your rear tires are:12 inch plows, 23 1/2 inches from the center of your drawbar to the inside of the right rear tire, 14 inch plows 25 inches, 16 inch plows 27 inches. If you dont use a plow, then go as wide as possible for stability. Keeping in mind that when reversing the front rims for more width, you do create more stress on the front spindle and bearings. This is especially true whe keeping a FEL mounted most of the time. Ken Sweet

if you do dish your rims.. ( swap sides sometimes is the easiest )just make sure you get the direction tread going the right way when done.

I don't actually have the AG tires yet, the dealer didn't have any in stock when he delivered my tractor so he is going to fill them and put them on when he gets new ones in, should be in a week or so. I won't be using a plow but I'll probably never - or very seldom - remove the FEL.

Sean - Chilly807 - explained the rims perfectly, but according to my manual, which is really quite informative, it says the front can't be changed around like the back. I will talk with the dealer about that when he gets them in.

Ken - sweettractors - my brother had a tire get away from him before in his garage and thankfully it didn't turn ugly but it was a learning experience that he shared with me, so another reason the dealer is doing it.

I just want to make sure I get them mounted correctly the first time, stability is a concern for me seeing that there's no cell coverage here either.
