I have a stack of old blades, are they good to practice on?
Probably make a mean pizza cutter too, I won't start on the better ones. You could use that stack of old saw blades to make knife blanks from and get 2 per blade. Google homemade knives and see how they make them from old skilsaw blades. Lots better use of the material than practice welding. You could probably sell them on ebay to knife makers and buy lots of scrap at .$60 a pound. Of course if you want to weld on them, no problem with that either.
Cuttin' up some history there? I have a Disston ice saw in the shop, you stay away from it..:laughing:I have got a blacksmiths dream blade, a 6 foot long, 1/8 inch thick, and 8 inch wide drag saw blade. When I get back to the black smith shop, that will be cut up and turned into tools.
