Hello everyone, proud new owner of a D140. After years of a ah hem Craftsman, went upscale to the JD. I would like to jazz it up with deck wheel covers, maybe some cool decals or anything else that would make it unique. Any ideas or websites that might have such stuff.

I did find some 'flame decals' once, but I could not bring myself to adding them to my classy old LX188. I did get the nice gauge wheels with the yellow centers though.

Hightower, welcome to TBN. It's none of my business, really, but I'd suggest you save your "jazz it up" money for repairs down the line. The 100 series JD mowers are built to compete with other low-cost mowers. I'd suggest you don't use the deck washout port and don't spray a lot of water on the top of the deck without blowing it off afterwards with compressed air. The idler pulleys and deck spindles are weak points on these mowers. For example, the whole spindle assy is less than $60 on a JD 100 series. On an MTD, the spindle (sealed and not greaseable) is about $130. You'll want to keep your spindles greased and stay on top of maintenance on your D140. With care and attention, it can last many years, but it is a cheaply built mower the same as any Craftsman, MTD, Husqvarna, or other mower in the $1500 to $2000 dollar range. I own a LA145 that is essentially the same mower before JD changed the number to the D1xx series. I've spent a lot of time and money fixing my mower, but I use it weekly to mow my grass and have 150 hours on it.

What I'm really suggesting is that you take a wait-and-see approach to your mower. If you feel the same way after the warranty is up, jazz it up all you want.
