I am in France and I have just acquired a JD 955 with 2000 hrs and a ROPS sans seat belt - SN 016428. Tyres are both Agricultural R2s an a set of grass R3s. Seems to been in good condition for its age, and we have a 5ft topper (linked with a PTO sliding clutch to tractor PTO) and 5 ft Fleming transporter box to go with it. We have about 10 acres of grass/woodland, slopes up to 25% grade, along with thick patches of brambles (Rubus fruiticosus) and Rosa sp., and blackthorn (Prunus spinosa), all on the slopes.
I would appreciate any advice on handling this tractor on the slopes, the use of wheel weights or tyre water ballast to increase stability. and anything that old hand JD955 users might add to improve my understanding and use of this beautiful tractor.
Finally, I am having difficulty obtaining a Owner's Manual for this machine - does any one know the manual number, and where I can get a copy - paper/CD or pdf?
Thanks
John
