So... I'm clearing trees on my land. We have very little soil so it is usually pretty easy to get trees down - just run into them with the FEL about 3' off the ground. Then I push these into big piles. I, uh, thought I was just going to burn them (another story, of course. But they don't burn really well!).

Anyway... So I'm pushing these piles of trees around like I've been doing for weeks now (I've gotten about 10 loosely treed acres cleared) when I hear this Pshhhhhhhh! Back up 2' and stop the engine and go and see how bad it is. It's bad. OK, well, start her up and get back to the barn as quickly as possible and park her (with a couple of buckets below to catch the runoff).

Now comes the hard part - finding parts! My radiator is toasty - but that's not a big deal, I can find those online for a reasonable price. What appears to be a problem is the transmission oil cooler (another one of the three radiators). I can't find a part number for the darned thing - so how can I order one? Ah, right, I could talk to my local tractor stores. Silly me. But it's a holiday! Arg!

Anyway, I'm heading down to PA for work for a few days (sorry - don't expect replies to questions or comments before Saturday!) and maybe I'll find something while I'm down there...

Just, um, sigh, venting. I wish, oh do I wish, that I wasn't!

Or, if I shell out the $200 for the shop manual will it have part numbers in it or do I need to shell out $150 on top of that for the parts list?

Backing up is usually what kills a radiator when pushing brush. Reason being is all of the sticks are pushed forward and whenever the machine backs up the sticks ram right into teh back of the radiator. It's usualy one of those things you learn the hard way, at least it was for me and I'm willing to ber FarmwithJunk has either done it too or has seen it done.

I missing where you describe what model tractor you have.

Charles, I'm very sorry to hear about your pierced radiator, but like DocHeb, I could not find your tractor model in your profile or a clue in your post. Perhaps you have mentioned it in another post, but I don't remember.

I'm also not sure why you would need to buy these manuals if you are going to buy the part from a NH dealer. If you have the tractor model and a description of the part, they should be more than happy to look it up for you when you buy the replacement part.

If you are going to buy a 3rd party replacement, I don't see how the NH part number would help. Most of the replacements are not part-for-part replacements. You'd have to modify the mounting and plumb it into the system. Were you wondering about pressure range? On a TC with hydro transmission, you can expect up to 300 psi in the cooler. You'd want one with a rating of 400-500 psi, I'd think.

Anyhow, If I (or other members) knew a little more info, I'm sure we would be happy to supply you with the info you need instead of your having to shell out the money for manuals on top of paying for the new part. I think we can all identify with your situation and how helpless you feel when something like this happens. I can't tell you how many times I've been mad at myself for not being careful...right after I've screwed something up.

Charles, I think I just saw in another of your posts that you have a 3930. I don't have a manual for that tractor, but you can go to Messicks.com and look up your parts in their online parts lists. It's a great resource and also a good way to order parts. I've never ordered from Messicks, but those who have recommend them highly.

Check to see if an automotive radiator repair shop can help you by recoring the radiators. If they can recore your radiators it would be less expensive. If I remember correctly I had a shop recore my old Ford 1100's radiator after a puncture. Jay

Ah! Thanks for the advice, Jay. I suppose I can start this off that way!

Cool. Thanks! So... Is the hydraulic cooler assembly, then, the little one on the bottom? It must be!
