PT 422 or 425 seat replacement....

I have read in previous posts that some folks have replaced their seats with ones found at Tractor Supply, etc. I would imagine that an improved seat gives a better "feel" but do they improve the ride?? With the tree roots and generally rough terrain we have I wish the PT had a suspension system!

Tractor Supply does have suspension seats for around $85.00. I have also bought them on Ebay.

How would you use a suspension seat, when it has to extend out over the hydraulic tank? Wouldn't that raise the seat too high?

Also, the seatbelt attaches to the seat frame on mine, so that could be a challenge also on an aftermarket seat -- unless you got one for a skidsteer which often has seatbelt provisions....

The seat bolts to the same plate as the old seat. This seat comes in non-suspension and full suspension. When I sit on mine, the seat drops about 5 inches and levels off. Don't know about the seat belts, I don't use them for various reasons.

I have that same suspension seat from TSC. I do use the seat belt so I just drilled holes where I needed to in the seat frame and mounted it like it was on the pt seat. I do sit a little higher but thats better for me, better view of attachments and more comfortable to steer. Head is a little close to the canapy though. Flattens my felt hat sometimes when I really get bouncing.

I can see where you will stay in the seat better due to the contoured design....but is the ride any better?

bringing this back up again as the bouncing I did this week-end reminded my kidneys that I need to look for a better seat. The term suspension seat makes it sound like it would be better than the PT seat but I wonder if after the $85+ investment in such a seat makes that much of a difference in the "ride"?? The countoured shape looks like you would have better seating on the hillsides. Maybe I should just go down to Tractor Supply and put one on to try since they accept returns.

If you are bumping around much, the tractor supply seat really helps. You will be seated higher and this takes a little getting use to.
I like the original seat better only if all is smooth.

I just picked up a suspension seat at Rural King for $69.00. It looks to be the same suspension seat that TSC has for $89.00 and thge same one J_J pictured earlier in this thread. I put it on my backhoe for now, but may give it a try on my PT.

Note to self... be sure to put the stop screw back in after installed aforementioned seat on backhoe or you may slip the seat off the back off the bracket while adjusting it and land on your butt in the driveway...

Not that I did that, of course.
