Hi all,

I've been using the great forum here to do some research but had a couple questions.

I'm trying to decide between a PT or a kubota bx2230. We've got a 2/3rds acre lot with ambitious landscaping plans and a fair amount of drainage work. I'm thinking about getting the rock bucket, box blade, mini-hoe, and cement mixer.

I'd appreciate any feedback on these implements, especially the hoe and cement mixer.

My questions are:

How loud is the PT-422 (or 425)? Comparable to a kubota? It's a tough question but if I run it off and on all afternoon on a saturday - is it going to really annoy the neighbors (3 or 4 houses within 200 ft)?

How much work can practically be done with the mini-hoe? I'm just looking to dig trenches and planting holes and can't see anything ever being over 3 feet deep.

I'm having a hard time finding used PTs to gauge the resale value. I may want to sell the unit after the yard is completely landscaped in 4 or 5 years. When they do sell, are they selling for 50% of list price? 75% of list?

Thanks in advance for any responses!

dsmith3,
Welcome to TBN.
You have many questions but I will try and answer a few as others will come in and answer as well.
Go to the thread under PowerTrac titled Mini Hoe Project. That will give you an idea of what this attachment can do. It will dig very well at three feet but only nine inches wide. For trenching that will work great. I would suggest you consider besides the mini hoe ordering the potato digger. This is a great attachment to rip a trench or hard ground. Then use the mini hoe or bucket to pick up the dirt.
The noise level of any CUT to me is about the same. I have had a 30HP White and have rented a 25 HP Kobota and they all seemed to be very near in noise level. Others will probably chime in with their thoughts.
I also had looked into buying a used PT but unable to find one. That tells me the resale value is there. I have no fears about selling when the time comes.

if your interested in a used pt 425 look at power tracs site they have an older mount type which does not have the quick attach but is also only 4500.oo with a small bucket and scott said he thinks it has 125 hours or so on the unit leaving a nice area for pricing out a couple of attachments
