I did a quick search and found mention of the gas filter...but can anybody give me a part number(NAPA or otherwise) so I can waltz into my local store and pick up one of these....with just over 200 hours I figure it's about time to change it? I was thinking about taking the original into the store with me but not sure if the counter boys will be able to accomodate me.

It's a very forgiving application. Any 1/4" inline fuel filter, such as a Fram G-1 should work just fine.

The Jacks Small Engine site shows 2 that are 1/4" inlet yet the microns differs....this is no big deal??? Wouldn't the finer filter slow the fuel flow?

The finer micron might be for a fuel injected engine. In any case, unless it's a really tiny filter, it should flow enough for this application - it will just clog sooner. Personally, I don't use a small engine filter, as you often end up paying more and getting a much smaller filter. Since there's plenty of room, I use a standard automotive filter.

I inquired at the local NAPA storte on a cross reference to the Fram G-1 mentioned above....FYI you can get the plastic filter part# 3001 or the metal filter with new clamps part#3031.

Just an update, the NAPA plastic filter would not intsall without leaking using the original spring clamps. Also, it is suggested that you take off the small rubber fuel line joining the fuel filter with the engine and inspect it...mine is severly cracked on the outside, intereior was ok but probably just a matter of time(not much probably!) before a leak!

Good update. Wednesday, I replaced my fuel filter and both the short and long fuel hoses as part of my 500 hour maintenance. My short hose was badly cracked also.
