I have finally identified the tram pump on my Kohler powered 2003 PT-425.
By all appearances, it is a Sauer Danfoss series 15 pump. These pumps were originally manufactured by Sauer Sundstrand prior to the year 2000 merger with Danfoss.
Sauer-Danfoss
Unfortunately, I don't know the exact model number. The tag containing that information seems to be missing. Hmmm, wonder why?
There is a PDF service manual on the website under Literature. If you read through it, you will find some very interesting information regarding approved fluids, and motor oil isn't one of them. There is also information on the required hydraulic tank vent filter that I don't seem to have
, hydraulic filter sizing, and fluid change requirements.
The series 15 pumps appear to be widely used, so finding someone who could rebuild one shouldn't be too difficult. I noticed they are used by Toro, Hustler, and Ventrac, among others.
Note: I have no idea if this pump is the same as your pump.
