Does anyone have a mini hoe? Does it fit on the front of the machine in lieu of the loader, or do you need to buy the 2000 series to mount it on the back? What are its limitations?

I would like to get a PT 1430 with this option so I could dig a narrow & shallow trench or dig out some rocks or a small stump with it. I just hope I do not break it right away.

Would the PT 1430 have more umph than a Kubota B sized TLB?

Thanks

Dave:
Look back at the archives for Pajoube's project. He has probably moved more dirt than other mini-hoe owners.
Sedgewood managed to bend his mini-hoe, after addition of a thumb, but I don't know if that caused the bend.
The mini hoe does go on the front, in place of the bucket. It adds a dipper to the front arms, with a hydraulic curl on the bucket, so it acts like a full backhoe, except for the capability to swivel. You do that by turning the front of the machine.
Bubenberg and I have Lackender hoes, originally done for skidsteers, with a PT adapter plate. Their function is the same as the mini hoe. Mine is on an 1845 and Bubenberg's on a 425.
They're useful gadgets. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Hi Charlie,

What does a Lackender hoe cost?

Is it common and/or easy to put a variety of bobcat attachments on the PT?

I feel the PT has more to offer than a CUT for a 1 man show such as myself.

Check Northern Tool and Lackender's website for current models and prices.
I got Power Trac to ship an adapter plate to Lackender, who welded it on to the standard skid steer size plate. I haven't put an adapter on my 1845 to use other skid steer attachments. Not long ago, there was a thread on that, and at least one or two PT owners have put standard skid steer mounting plates on their larger PTs. (1445?) There are a number of companies offering skid steer mounting assemblies to put on front end loaders on conventional tractors which are easily adaptable to PTs. I haven't seen that anyone has put one on a 422 or 425, and do not know if there are many skid steer implements that would work on the 8 series PTs. Generally, I think PT attachments are so much cheaper than skid steer ones that most PT owners have stayed with the PT stuff and particularly the PT quick attach, which is superb.
