PT Post hole auger

Does anyone know the size and configuration of PT's post hole augers? I need a PH digger to go down 7'. Most augers have extentions that can be used.

I am also looking at the potential of reopening a hand-dug well on my property. If so, I would be using an auger with several attachments. Has anyone tried this? I'm not sure I'll do it - it sounds dangerous to go down more than a few feet without having to put in bracing, a sleeve, etc.
