Some time ago, I read about how many folks (myself included) use their FEL for a wheelbarrow to haul stuff to and from where they're working.

I recall that one person forgot that the stuff was in there & used the FEL, thereby consigning a small chainsaw and other stuff to the "scratch and dent" category.

At the the time, I thought, "How could someone do that?".

Last week, I loaded up my PT FEL, with a miter saw, nailgun, palm nailer, framing square, logging chains, chain saw, boxes of nails, hammers, skilsaw, extension cords, etc., etc.

Then, I USED THE FEL TO SCRAPE UP SOME DIRT AT THE WORKSITE BEFORE UNLOADING.

You might wonder, how dumb can a person be? Apparently, pretty dumb!

I wondered that same thing. Later in the same day, I DID IT AGAIN!

Now, I know that this could have nothing to do with the diminished brain function that is a natural part of being past 50 yrs. old, so, after much thought, I realized that IT'S THE TRACTOR MANUFACTURER'S FAULT!

Had they install a convex mirror (similar to the ones on a school bus front fender) on the bucket as any lawyer worth his fees would have recommended, this would not happen. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

Today, it's finally funny! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Did the same thing to a chain saw I had in the bucket after a ice storm. Just one of those senior moments you know 34yr and all you forget a lot.

Twice in 1 day...that is funny /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif my record stands at almost once.....what you need is a wife standing by and doing a jig just before you load up the bucket with dirt while the tools are still in it! /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

As a member of the 'over 50' PT owners, I'll give it a try this weekend and let you know next week how it went.

One of my favorite sayings is. If you don't want to drive off with something you left on top of you car or PT don't put it there in the first place. The thing is not in the forgetting, that is a given. What it is in is setting your self up to forget!! So don't worry about it when you forget (we all do). Worry about setting yourself up. Don’t put it there in the first place.

PS. I am just as guilty of doing that as any of you all. LOL

Maybe is you left something sticking out of the bucket, like the chain saw blade or the axe handle it could remind you not to do something silly.

Maybe mount a mailbox flag on the back of the bucket? /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Then there's the time I put my chain saw and gas can in the bucket of my then new IH 484 and headed down one of those 30 degree slopes I now have the 1845 to deal with. Let's just say the bucket on the 484 doesn't tip back 30 degrees. You get the picture. So the chain saw rolls out the right side of the bucket, the gas can out the left - right ahead of the front wheels. You still with me here? Yup. Squashed that plastic gas can flat, popped the cap off, and sent a huge shower of gas in all directions - all over the tractor, me, the ground. We were soaked. Nope, it didn't ignite or you might not be reading this. But wait - there's more. Now I'm standing on the brakes - both of them - on a now soaking wet grassy 30 degree slope. You guessed it - the wheels locked, lost traction, and away we went. All the way to the bottom faster than that tractor ever went before.

Missed the tree too. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Oh yeah, the rear wheel got the chain saw. Totaled it,

Maybe Power-Trac will design a special TBN "tool" edition bucket. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
