In the winter when using the backhoe for long periods of time the fuel heats up and won't draw into the Carb. Anyone else have this problem? pt2422

Hi Carl,
In the other thread on no/hard starting Robin's, I made a refence to a pair of 2400's that were in the shop and shared comments on the fuel system as described by the shop tech.
Read down through that whole thread for some Robin background...
...Question on the 2422...where is the fuel tank with respect to the pulse-type fuel pump...relative level, distance, etc?
Why do you feel it is a fuel draw prob...How's hot weather op's?
...Sorry for more questions, just trying to get a better feel for your problem...If someone has a 2400 model, maybe can jump in here...
...That wasn't you in the Oswego,Ill. shop ...Was It?

The fuel tank is in front under the bucket. We feel its a heat probelm doesn't happen in the summer only after Oct.. It also burnt the insides of the muffler. My machine wasn't in the shop in Oswego thats my freinds. The fuel won't even draw fuel into the filter. Were thinking a larger jet my do the trick in the carb. The company just acts like they've never heard of the problem before. Our machine wouldn't even run when delivered had tobe serviced. In the summer we have no problems

Carl,
Your friend w/ the 2422...Is his fixed-what was his problem?
...Read through this link ...does anything look like it would pertain to you?

Just off-hand, if you cant draw past the filter...sounds like it's clogged...

The fuel filter is fine lines aren't plugged at all. We have been using Amsoil since 100 hours and we don't have and cold start problems. My friends machine they put a bigger starter in and synthetic oil also. Seems to me these Robin engines aren't up to the job. We must have 20 Kohlers & Kawasakis in our equipment and have never had half the problems I reading in thes postings

Howdy Neighbor,

Hope you read that nicely cleaned up link(Thank You MR) just above where in one of my posts I'm sharing Tom Quantz's findings on the carb...that's what prompted me to go for the 12vdc solid state fuel pump, though with my fuel tank being above the oem pump, I probably don't need one as bad as your 2422 w/ the tank down low. and perhaps further away.
Tom mentioned your friends muffler was burned up, too, and I told Tom to pass on the fact that Power-Trac has a new in-house design for about $99. that blows a lot cooler.

Carl, look me up in the profile section and the phone book...I'm out in Lake Holiday and work in Batavia...give me a call if you want to talk offline about these PT's

man can't believe all these issues with the Robin - I'm glad I went with the Kohler - I understand that maybe the math allows you to upgrade - but I could not deal with the aggravation - Has Terry been helpful over at PT?

Powertrac just refers you to Robin America when you have a motor problem. If I had known would have bought a Kohler or Kawasaki. I'am us to buying equipment and using it for a few years before we have problem. We get 7+ years out of other motors on our mowers that run 7 hours a day 5 days a week for 20 weeks with just oil, grease and lean filters.
