Good afternoon to all.
I have a 2003 PT425 Kohler Ch730 engine that has a bad ignition module. My question is with this PT425 the engine is so close to the end of the tub how to remove the blower housing to access the modules?
I thought of maybe just cutting the blower housing to gain access but find turning the flywheel /magnet to be very difficult as very little room to handle it.
I have no experience in detaching the motor from the pump and what kind of hassle that may be once again tight area big big man with large hands. how big of a issue is this to detach and reset motor?
I could cut the end of the tub off after detaching the hood /oil cooler /fuel tank. gain access to end of motor to handle the repair and then reweld the tub back in place.
Has any of you had this issue and if so how did you handle this particular repair.

Thank you to all and I was on here years ago but for some reason my handle seems to have changed from jol1269 to jamesliles1269 ....I am in McDonough Ga as well. Thankyou for your insights in advance and to everyone Merry Christmas and have a happy New Year. Hopefully much better than the 2020 we have all endured.:drink:

Changed your moniker per your request in the states list. :)

As for your 2003 model year, I can't help much there. Your engine is all the way to the rear of the unit and all of your pumps are forward of the engine. My 2001 model the engine has pumps in front and back of the engine, so my engine sits forward of the rear of the machine by a good foot.

It might be easier for you to unbolt the entire engine and pump assembly from the floor pan as a complete unit and slide it forward?? Just saying it might be worth a look.

Also, don't be shy about calling Terry at Power Trac. He can probably tell you the easiest way to get at it.

As tempting as it is to just saw off the rear of the tub and weld it back on when complete, I'd think there's got to be an easier way. :)

Not a kohler, at the time, but i pulled my robin's engine up a ways to replace the starter and clean voltage regulator. Unbolted the machine, left the pumps attached and tipped the engine enough, to clear the back of the tub. If that wouldn't work, you could release the pump stack at the coupler.
