PTO shaft is at the John Deere dealer. I got 2 of the ball bearings to move but that third was impossible. Even had a neighbor come over and he couldn't get it free. Apparently the John Deere dealer couldn't get it free either so they are having to replace the whole collar apparatus.

FINALLY I will be able to get some pasture clean-up started.

Thanks to everyone for your suggestions and consideration - the suggestions worked on 2 of the 3 ball bearings so I will keep them in my arsenal for future reference.

Sounds more like the final solution was wallet (purse) grease, not elbow grease!

Somebody is putting their hands on that bearing! There is no spray or soak that will remove the old rusted part and replace it with a new free moving one.

I love the HX10. I have been using it for 12 years and my ex used it for several years before that and this is the first time I have had any issues. I highly recommend it!

Picked up the PTO shaft yesterday - they had to replace the collar as no one there could get the ball bearings free either. They charged me for the part only - no labor so that was a pleasant surprise. Just in time for the weekend - watch out weeds! :cool2:
