Hi:
I have a small sawmill and am considering one of the PTO chippers to dispose of softwood slabs and edgings. The tractor is a JD 4310.
The slabs are mostly 8" or less, but there will be some 10" or more, depending on the amount of taper and bow in the log. I'll rip the really wide slabs in half in the mill, but would like to keep that to a minimum. The slabs will be 1" to 3" thick. The edgings will be mostly 1" thick.
I expect the amount of slabs chipped would be a half ton per month.
I suspect that the Jinma and Mulch Dog chippers will handle greater width than the stated 6" or 8" diameter they will chip, but that isn't spelled out anywhere I can find.
Can anyone tell me what width slab or board they will handle? Anyone using these chippers for this purpose?
thanks,
Mike
