I just bought a B6200 that came with a rear mount tiller installed and an RC60-72h belly mower deck not installed.

I plan to sell the tiller as I primarily will use this tractor to mow with but had some questions:

Will the pto driveshaft on the rear tiller work on the mid mount finish mower attachment or are they different lengths/sizes?

How difficult would it be to adapt my king kutter finish mower to the rear PTO on the kubota? The pins on my 9n which is currently running the finish mower appear to be farther apart than in the kubota.

Thanks in advance.

A mid mount mower driveline usually runs 3 -4 times the rear pto rpm. You would need a driveshaft and a new gearbox. You might be able to alter the pin arrangement on the rear mower (Turn them inward to narrow the span).

The other PTO item I've discovered on CUT and SCUT tractors is the length from the PTO shaft to the gearbox on the mower (or tiller) is usually shorter than conventional tractors.

This requires you to be more accurate in having the proper PTO shaft length. Too short a shaft, and the PTO will come apart when lowered. Too long a shaft, and it will put pressure on the tractor PTO when fully raised.

To show you how critical this can be: My Kubota dealer cut the PTO shaft on my bushhog tiller to fit my BX2200. Worked fine UNTIL I added Pat's easy change links to my 3PH. Moving the tiller aft about 4" the PTO would come apart when the 3PH was fully lowered. I had to lengthen the PTO shaft.

How wide of a mower are you wanting to put on the rear?

I have a B6200 and it will have a hard time running a wider mower in anything, but shorter grass, keep in mind it only has 12-1/2 hp at the pto...

For taller grass or light brush, I run a Woods 48" rotary cutter and it does a good job with that...

Thanks for the replies so far.

The mower deck that came with the Kubota is the original deck: RC60-72H. So it is a 5 foot mower and apparently ran fine. Only reason I asked about running the rear mount King Kutter 5 foot is because I could mow with that until I get the Kubota deck refurbished, but with that said I'm not sure why a rear mount 5 footer wouldn't run as well as the mid mount 5 footer unless the PTO gearing for the rear is different as suggested. If so - that is probably the answer since the original deck was engineered for my B6200.

Ultimately I want to simply mow with the Kubota so I want to get the RC60 mower deck back in it.

So - does anyone know the min and max length of the mid mount pto shaft? My kubota deck still has the deck side joint and splined shaft, but is missing the Assembly from the pto takeoff on the tractor which would include a quick connector, another u joint and the female splined shaft that would mate with the male splined shaft coming off the mower.

Should the female splined shaft be the same length as the male splined shaft? If so I should be able to put this together if I can find that piece but would prefer to know the length before spending $$$$.

Even better would be if someone had the dimensions for the original midmount pto shaft!!!!

Thanks everyone, I'm looking forward to using this little Kubota and selling my 9n with implements so I can free up some space in my barn!

You are far better off to just get the mid-mount deck in good shape and going. There is very little to keep you from TRYING the 3pt hitch finish mower, but you'll run into all sorts of nuisance issues already mentioned, including the width accommodated by the smaller tractor, the shaft length issue, etc. The only way I know to get the shaft cut the right length for your Kubota is measure (your finish mower manual either on paper or on the web will explain that process) and then cut it with a hack saw to fit. That probably screws up use of the finish mower with larger tractors and I would not bother. Far easier to just continue to use the 9n and finish mower until the B6200 and MMM get fixed. HOWEVER, you have been dealt a major disservice in buying that MMM deck without the splined half shaft and connector that slips on to your mid-PTO shaft. If you bought the two separate, make darn sure the deck is the EXACT right model for your B6200. Nearly the same is NOT the same. I would expect 2 things: 1) You will not find a used splined half-shaft and u-joint connector anywhere and 2) buying it new thru the parts Dept will cost well over $100. Depending on your situation, what you plan to do long term with the 9n and finish mower, and what it is costing to get the MMM deck refurbished, I'd want to re-look at this total picture.

Can't agree more on the DISSERVICE description. Pretty frustrated that the seller has not returned multiple calls asking him to look for the missing half of the pto shaft. That said - as they say "it is what it is" and now that I've removed the half from the mower deck I can take it into a yard or shop and know that any used item will work.

I've also read that the splined shaft can be matched up with a third party unit, so eventually I'll get this going but it is a shame this happened with such a nice 6200 that basically is sitting now until I can work through this pto shaft.

I do wonder if the rear shaft that is mounted and working the tiller that was attached will work. I don't really want to separate it as I plan to sell the tiller and it would be a shame to not keep the working rear shaft with it...

One more time thru this for us old peoples:

So, are you missing the 21 spline drive shaft that connects the mid-pto to the mid-mount mower deck's gearbox? I suspect these are a (sorta) common shaft used on JD / Yanmar tractors to run mid mowers and also the older JD F-series front mowers.

For example, I have a JD 1070 CUT which has the Mid-pto. I used to run a 72" mid-mower on this tractor but it's a PITA because I also hay with it so I now run a rear mower if necessary. I also have a JD F-935 Front mower. The drive shaft is virtually the same. One extends longer than the other but when in operating mode, they are interchangeable. Same quick coupler, same clamped end at the mower deck.

This info might help you locate used shafts (even on ebay) because they are there frequently that I see. I might even be tempted to sell my spare shaft (found at a garage sale). I was planning to use the shaft if I found a good 47" snow blower for the F-935 but Al Gore told me to forget it and buy a house for an adopted polar bear instead.

This could get you back in the MMM business if you wanted to go that way by showing you a wider parts usage list.
