PTO extender help

I switched from an self-contained engine driven sprayer, to a pto driven sprayer. My JD 2305 hooks up to the new sprayer, but the overlap of the male and female pto is only about 3 inches (a bit more on the turn). The sprayer manual says it's safe at 2 inches of overlap, but I wanted to extend the PTO hub on the tractor if possible. I saw some extender/adapters at TSC, but wasn't sure if they are meant for this, and if it was safe to do.

I also saw that some ran the PTO at 1000, but I needed to keep it at 560rpm.

Hope this makes sense. I've had the self-engine forever, so using the PTO for a trailer sprayer is new to me and I don't want to ruin the sprayer or tractor...or get hurt.

G,day check out the bare co site they have pto extenders that are designed for exactlyyour use but use the bolt clamp type as these are much better on your pto shaft as they do not move and wear the spline good luck with it

Wow, I hope the sprayer company has good liability insurance. I wouldn't consider using a PTO drive shaft without an overlap of at least six inches.

If your tractor's PTO spline has a pre-drilled pin hole, use this type: PTO ADAPTER 1-3/8 FEAMLE X 1-3/8 MALE - Agri Supply If there's no hole, use this type: PTO ADAPTER 1-3/8X6SPL M. X 1-3/8X6SPL F - Agri Supply . If adding the adapter still doesn't give you a good six inches of safety margin, you might consider replacing the PTO shaft itself
