Rear Finish Mower PTO finish mower to brush hog

One other thing that I didn't mention. I wouldn't condone just running through a big patch of brush at full speed with a finish mower. Like you say it does not have swinging blades like a brush hog so it will send a lot more shock down the driveline. If you are carefull and take it easy I think it would do fine in your stated circumstances. Lift the mower up a little and take a couple passes at somthing if needed.

Even if the mower will cut the stuff you're thinking about, it's going to beat the heck out of the deck (especially the sides) and it's going to be harder on your driveline when you accidentally hit something too big (or a rock/stump). If the mower doesn't have a slip clutch it will be even worse for your tractor....I wouldn't risk that potential damage when used, solid brush cutters are so cheap (just sold a very solid a rhino 6' model for $500).
