1710 Ford 4x4 gear drive--The clutch doesn't release as it should so the pto grinds when it's engaged and doesn't stop when the clutch is depressed. Seems the pto clutch is stuck/froze and needs to be freed. There is a large rubber plug on the right side of the bellhousing to access the clutch to adjust it. I like to know if I can break it loose thru this hole and also would like to adjust the pto clutch if someone could tell me the clearance it should have. thanks, gregjo1948

I'd like to say how clever you are for taking the fast track to fixing your tractor rather than wasting money on stinking shop manuals then spend hours of boring time reading and looking at pictures. It really upsets me how many hours I've wasted splitting tractors just to adjust the clutch. Noone ever told me about that rubber plug and how to make adjustments in a few minutes with a screwdriver fiddling with clutch through the hole. I'm as eager as you to hear time saving tips for this issue so I can use them next time I have clutch problems.
