Actually I was using the ratio of the diameters of the chippers and taking the square root of it. In many mechanical processed that involve energy, the power eequired varies as ta square function of some variable.. I equated this to rotor diameter Again this was only a rough approximation. I then took the square root of the 4/6 ratio and multiplied it the 34.5 hp have. Again just an educated guess. I also think you can run a 6" chipper on 25 pto hp if you watch your feed rates.
