Been researching for a replacement tractor and seem to be heading in the Yanmar direction. I noticed a post stating that the imports have the PTO's running in the opposite direction as do US domestic tractors. True or Untrue?
I have implements from my recently deceased Deere (Yanmar) that I'd like to continue using. Enlighten me!

There was some models that had the PTO turning the wrong way. I couldn't tell you which models it was.

How can you be certain if you can't state a model?

We now have two threads and at least three posts making vague allegations of Yanmar ptos turning the "wrong way." Since I do not have familiarity with every single model ever made by Yanmar I cannot definitively say that none of the tractors they ever made had the pto turn counter-clockwise. I can say that no model we have ever carried in 13 years turned that direction.

It is this kind of generalized disinformation that causes confusion. Name a model, provide specifics, or let it go.

We had one in the shop several years ago and I have thought that it was a Yanmar for a long time. If I was wrong and it was a Kubota, I am sorry. It could have been a Kubota, but I have never remembered it that way. We got a reverser adapter for the owner. Will you tell us all what tractors had reverse PTOs?

Jerry, I think here in the Yanmar forum that question will just get blank stares. I don't think the Yanmar specialists have ever seen such a thing.

So that this thread may be helpful to someone who reads it in the future - Over in another thread is a cite of what I've read on TBN several times:

The only one that I KNOW turns the opposite direction and has a non-standard (smaller and more splines) PTO shaft is the grey market Kubota B6000.

The only ones I know of are some early Mitsubishi, Satoh, and Kubota models. All of them had nonstandard shafts also. I think they were 25mm-25 spline, not sure of that but obvious at first glance they are not standard cat 1! I think, not sure but think, that all with 1 3/8 dia cat 1 shafts are clockwise.

This might not help at all...but only once did I find the deal of the century and it was a pristine, but older Kubota 48" finish mower for $150. Unfortunately, it was geared to move the blades backwards when hand spun CW...and had a fine spline PTO shaft. So, it was indeed matched for the Kubota with the reverse direction, fine spline PTO model.

I knew if I ask Wayne that question that he would know. Over the years, he has been very knowledgeable and helpful to many here on TBN.

You are right that it should help those that are looking to find out about that. Wayne and the other good dealers that are members here have an uphill battle on may things and I am sure this one of them.

Figures I pick one of the posts and it turns out to be the wrong one.:D Thanks California for moving the post here. Why does not Bird or someone remove the dup?

Buck has some Yanmar tractors on his web site with a reverse gear on the PTO, maybe that is what Dave66 is talking about. RS30D, AF326D, and AF33D.
