Hello all.
I have a 2012 Max 25. The PTO is giving me grief. Lever engaged PTO running, put a small load (as in rototiller tines just touch ground enough to scuff up surface) and the PTO kicks out. Put foot on clutch, wait a couple seconds I can feel PTO re-engage release clutch pedal and tiller turns again...until I load it up then it pops out again. I bought a manual. I've got the top of the transmission off but I see nothing obviously wrong. The only slightly odd thing is the collar that is moved by the PTO shifter isn't all the way into the mating gear on the PTO shaft with the PTO engaged. I tried with a pry bar to pop it out but it aint going anywhere. It's fully locked in place. An there is no sign of any wear at all in the transmission on anything. I probed the oil with a strong magnet and there was no filings or chunks whatsoever. Mahindra told me to check the collar on the "driveshaft" (the input shaft inside the transmission). I looked at it carefully, no cracks(it's some cast or pot metal), you can slid it back and forth on the splines and no sign of wear (as much as I can see of it). So. I'm not sure where to go from here. I suspect it might be the one way clutch on the input shaft but I will have to pull the entire trans axle assembly out and split it to just check it, that's a lot of work for a guess. It took me a couple hours just to open up the transmission. Book time is 6.5 hrs to pull the transaxle(if you know what your doing). Any ideas other than splitting my little tractor in two?
