PTO light stays on

Hey ya got a 5075e jd the PTO works when engaged and everything but the light is always on even when its off i have a lever to turn PTO on and off any ideas whats causing this? Thank you

You sure the lever is not just a selector lever for 540 - Neutral - 540E? And a button somewhere actually turns On and Off the PTO?

Don't know the year of your tractor but the newer ones are electrohydraulic, this means a button turns the PTO on and off.

EDIT: Looks like the 12x12 transmission, uses the button for the PTO. The 9x3 transmission is a mechanical system of some sort.

Your issue may very well be just a stuck switch.

Its john deere 5075e model and yea its a lever that turns off and on the PTO no button. So everything works but the PTO engaged light stays on even when the lever is off position maybe theres a switch in the lever i’ll take a look and get back

Yeah, it's a simply mechanical system, so I'm indeed very inclined to a sticky switch. Probably hiding under that cover.

If the switch is wired on normally closed side, it may just have come loose from where it is mounted. Looking at picture, it would seem to make sense for the switch to be actuated at the "off" position of the lever.
