Thank you, thank you, thank you!! I'm a long time "lurker" on this forum, but this incident finally prompted me to register and post. I had the IDENTICAL issue - had been working in high grass, PTO light didn't go off when I threw the lever. Had the good fortune to park in the barn first before trying my bright idea of just turning the tractor off and back on again (my usual solution for computer problems!). THEN realized that of course with the PTO light on, the darned thing won't start.
I scoured these posts, and was beginning to think of heading out for a fuse-shopping trip when I found your note about a "loose wire". So I crawled around underneath, and lo and behold - a loose wire underneath the rear near the PTO levers. Re-plugged, and was off and running.
Just wanted to thank you for posting - I'd have NEVER found the darned thing...
