PTO on a TC40

First time out with our gear drive 40 and new 930B mower the same thing happened and it turned out I was not engaging the lever all the way to the rear. First thing I did was check and tighten the mower drive belt which did not help. There is a tapered slot to make it easy to feather the engagement, but it then tapers to a narrower slot for full engagement. Hope this helps.

Jinman, No. I bought my rig from the dealer just west of Weatherford. Great dealer!!

Update: I took the tractor in for the end of warranty check and told them about the PTO problem. They noticed right off the bat that the PTO engagement lever wasn't traversing all the way back to the fully engaged position -- as I mentioned in my earlier post. Apparently, the lever was slightly bent. They fixed the lever (although it's been that way since I bought the tractor). Then they connected the PTO to a device they have that loads it down (I forget what they called it). They ran it for three hours without a problem.

My guess is that the lever was the problem -- not fully engaging. I'll try it out this weekend and see how well it works.
